I am an individual who continues to ask questions and gets amazed with wonderful discoveries. I am entrusted with a canvas of life with the power and responsibility to create a beautiful world and to share a caring hand to others. I always believe in the inherent greatness of people and that every day is a learning opportunity.

My name is James Nilo and I am currently living in Yokosuka, Japan, though I consider San Diego, CA as my home.

A team leader for over 12 years in religious, non-profit and for-profit organizations, I currently work as a prioneering Program Support professional for CREDO Navy Region Japan establishing and facilitating retreats and workshops at naval installations all over Japan to include Guam, Korea, Singapore, and Diego Garcia.

I am an Associate Faculty of the University of Phoenix, Asia Military Campus-Yokosuka Learning Center teaching leadership courses in the Master of Business Administration program.

I earned an Artium Baccalaureatus (A.B.) degree from Wesleyan University-Philippines with a concentration in Political Science.

I hold a Master in Business Administration (MBA) degree, Summa Cum Laude, from Trident University International based in Cypress, California. Prior to that, I received a Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management complemented by a course in Strategic Leadership from the same university.

I also hold a Master of Arts in Management (MA Mgt) from American Public University based in Charles Town, West Virginia.

I am currently taking courses towards a PhD in Business Administration with a concentration in Management and Organizations from TUI.

I am a certified trainer for Everything DiSC Personality Assessment and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST).  My professional memberships include Society for Human Resource Management; Golden Key International Honour Society; Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society in Business (Mu Zeta Chapter); Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society in Business, Management, and Administration; and, International Order of DeMolay.

I am a proud Navy husband to HM1(SW) Annaliza O. Nilo, CPhT, CHS-IV, and a father to a bright young boy (Jason) & a beautiful, smart girl (Jasmine).

This blog is a compilation of lessons I learned from my kids, leadership experiences and other musings of my mind.

    I too am a military spouse. We are PCSing to Japan this summer and really appreciate your guide! We are in San Diego currently and this will be our first overseas tour as a family with 2 kids! Thank you- we have enjoyed reading your website and it is bookmarked on our computer so we can refer to it as we prepare for July 2015. 🙂
